TUESDAY - 01 October 2024 (0900 - 1900) Conference Day 1 and Vendor Show Day

0630-0900 - Registration

0900-1130 - Opening Ceremonies, Awards and Keynote Speaker

Presentations and Debriefs

  • A Panel will conduct an interactive session and discuss crisis decision-making

  • Tucson PD SWAT (AZ) will debrief a multi-hour shootout with a barricaded suspect where the suspect fired more than 450 rounds. Learn how directed fire was a key tactic in their response to the threat in this incident.

  • Integrating SWAT and K-9.  LASD SEB will discuss the use of K-9s in open area searches where deputies took fire from suspects

  • A 2022 incident is debriefed where an officer was shot, and the SWAT team used an energetic breach to assist in resolving the standoff

Wednesday 02 OCTOBER 2024 (0800 - 1700 hours) Conference Day 2

Presentations

  • A team leader's guide to helmet-mounted night vision and weapon-mounted lasers - this course will provide a basic understanding of image-intensifying technology, some considerations and specifications for purchasing related equipment and designing training that supports your mission needs. This presentation has been updated to include thermal and fusion sensors for high-risk operations

  • Mission planning with LASD SEB.  This three-part series will breakdown mission planning for high-risk warrants, barricade operations, and hostage rescue

  • A team will provide an overview of their Aerial Platform Team and debrief a sniper engagement from a helicopter

  • Salinas PD SWAT will debrief a multi-agency barricade operation after a deputy was shot

  • The FBI will debrief an HRT where four hostages were rescued earlier this year 

HRT Track

  • HRT Case Study with Las Vegas Metro PD SWAT - this presentation will include a series of debriefs to highlight the complexities and nuances in these operations

  • Austin PD SWAT (TX) - this debrief details SWAT’s response to assist patrol officers under fire.  During the crisis entry, one of the team members is killed, and another one is seriously wounded

  • OCSO will provide instruction on the fundamentals of HRT

Patrol Track

  • Bakersfield PD will debrief an in extremis hostage rescue conducted by Patrol Officers

  • Brentwood PD will debrief a domestic hostage situation that was resolved by Patrol Officers

  • Maine State Police will debrief an active shooter incident from 2023

CNT Track

  • A retrospective case review of a 5-hour barricade involving a mentally ill subject with a violent history towards law enforcement, who was facing life in prison

  • The FBI will present the role of artificial intelligence in crisis negotiations for law enforcement, highlighting its advantages and limitations. 

  • A debrief of crisis negotiations when a sniper took a shot at the suspect and how this affected the outcome.

Wellness Track

  • BAAM 360 -Dr. James Engall and team share their research from Best Practices for POST blast mitigation

  • Stephanie Samuels and Dr.Daniel Hamed Daneshvar MD. PhD on the latest research for LE on Concussion, TBI and what you need to know for prevention and treatment 

  • Dr. Graham Simpson discusses what you need to do to optimize your health for peak performance and longevity.

Practical Tracks

  • HRT Tactics in the MPTS Shoothouse continue

  • OTX Tactics weapons-based mixed martial arts training sessions for LE continue

  • VTC will conduct a 2-day course to provide law enforcement officers and deputies with tactics and techniques when searching for or pursuing a suspect(s) on foot in open rural or rugged terrain
