Levi Lawson, (two-years old) was hospitalized after his day care provider found a mass in his abdomen and alerted his parents, Victor and Julia, in early July, 2024. They immediately made the trip to UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, where Levi was diagnosed with cancer (Wilms Tumor) on July 8. As if that was not enough, they found out the tumor had ruptured and metastasized to his lungs, placing Levi's cancer in a Stage IV category. They spent the next 25 days in the hospital, battling through surgeries, chemotherapy, rotavirus, scans and pokes and prods. After 6 weeks of shrinking the tumor with chemotherapy, Levi underwent a nephrectomy and his kidney and main tumor mass was removed. Levi is now undergoing aggressive treatment to include radiation and chemotherapy, 6 hours away from home.
Levi's outpatient care requires multiple appointments each week in Sacramento for diagnostic tests, surgery, chemo, and radiation over the next 6 months. Donations will help cover the many expenses that Levi's care will entail, including weekly travel and lodging for the 10+ hour round-trip drive from Bishop to Sacramento, a home health nanny to allow Vic and Julia to continue working while Levi is immunocompromised and can't go to daycare, medical supplies, food delivery, cleaning services, activities and toys to keep Levi happy at home, fun outings when Levi feels up to it, and the inevitable emergences that will arise. Your support in any form is deeply appreciated and will help the Lawson family make it through this ordeal. It will be a long haul but there is a lot of hope for the future.
Also, thank you to everyone who has already donated, texted, e-mailed, sent gifts and cards and held this special family in your thoughts and prayers. Please continue to share this venture with anyone you think might be interested, hug those you love, and live life to the fullest :)
